by Simran Sharma (Youth Ambassador at Aasira)
Hi! I am Simran. As a computer science student, I have personally witnessed several disparities that plague STEM fields. In my class of 39 students, only 8 were girls. Many females I encountered backed out of pursuing STEM due to the absence of female role models and discouraging societal norms. Furthermore, the underprivileged face additional hurdles in accessing resources. Problems like limited finance often impede their progress in STEM.
That's why I decided to write this blog for Aasira, an initiative close to my heart. Joining forces with like-minded individuals, I now have the opportunity to contribute to this transformative cause.
Aasira aims to create a more inclusive environment, where girls and economically underprivileged individuals can thrive in STEM.
Our mission is to inspire, guide, and uplift aspiring individuals who have been held back by societal barriers. By nurturing their talents and providing equal opportunities, we can pave the way for a more equitable future. Together, we are building a community where diversity is celebrated, and talent knows no boundaries.
Join us in this transformative journey, and let us empower the next generation of STEM leaders.
